Hospital tells the healthy life story of American John Malpede. For years there is nothing wrong. But as John gets older and his health becomes more precarious, he becomes entangled in a medical Kafkaesque doomsday scenario.
While the liberalization of health care is in full swing in the Netherlands, the United States seems to be showing the opposite trend with Obamacare. But where does the future of our health care system lie?
Wunderbaum joins forces with the actors of the Los Angeles Poverty Department (LAPD). They live or work in Skid Row, down town LA: the refuge for homeless people and (ex-)addicts for whom the American dream has degenerated into a true nightmare.

“Filled with politically pointed anachronisms and playful metatheatrical asides, Hospital succeeds in personalizing the despairing intractability of universal healthcare.”
LA Weekly
“In sharpest focus, the Netherlands ‘Wunderbaum’ and Los Angeles Poverty Department isolate a loneliness inherent in Western Culture’s focus on individualism, self-reliance and self-importance.”
